Course Overview

This qualification provides learners with foundational knowledge and practical skills in Women, Peace, and Security (WPS), equipping them with the competencies required to promote gender equality, conflict prevention, peacebuilding, humanitarian action, and inclusive security governance.

As conflicts become increasingly complex, the meaningful participation of women in peace and security processes has become essential to achieving sustainable peace and development. This course introduces participants to the principles of the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda, including the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 and subsequent resolutions. Learners will explore the role of women in conflict prevention, peace negotiations, peacekeeping, post-conflict recovery, and the protection of women and girls from gender-based violence.

The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications, enabling participants to analyze gender dimensions of conflict, develop inclusive peacebuilding strategies, advocate for gender-responsive policies, and contribute effectively to national and international peace and security initiatives.
